health

Today the Times Magazine has an article on ailments that prove nearly impossible to diagnose. There is a 30-year old woman whose body is slowly but surely falling apart in ways completely unpredictable to her. She could wake up tomorrow with blood trickling out of her ear or the failure to move any of her limbs and these would not be the most traumatic things to have happened to her. She is an inspiration to me today because I am going to the dentist tomorrow and always feel the distinct possibility of a diagnosis of several root canals. It is good to have someone expose my hypochondria for the self-important waste of time that it is. Once again it has occurred to me that it would benefit the world to have Bill Gates think about every problem facing us for just a few minutes' time.
